Saint Albans is pleased to welcome children two years old to Saint Albans Playgroup. We meet each Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings from 9.00 a.m. until 11.30 a.m. The playgroup is designed to give young children an opportunity to experience group play, with a view toward helping them prepare for a more formal preschool experience in the future. The group is open to all. Activities include story-time, games, music, crafts, free-play and more. The playgroup is led by experienced teachers and assistants.
The tuition for playgroup is $8,000 per year. The program runs during the school year from early September until June. Admission is on a first-come, first-served basis.
The three-year-old preschool program provides an integrated curriculum of activities balancing emotional, social, physical and intellectual development. The curriculum is designed to build children’s self esteem, sense of competence and positive feelings towards learning.in a fun and engaging manner The program is a half day program and runs from 9:00 am to noon each day.
The four year old program builds upon the concepts and activities developed in the three year old program. Students are presented with new concepts and more challenging skills. This program fully prepares our students for the kindergarten program. The program is full day and meets from 8:15am to 2:45pm.
The Kindergarten program is designed to help children build on their prior knowledge and experiences, form concepts, acquire foundational skills, and form positive attitudes to learning as they begin to develop their goals for lifelong learning. It is also designed as the foundation for a continuum of learning from Kindergarten to Grade 8.
At Saint Albans we recognize that each child learns differently and we therefore provide a supportive, engaging environment with activities and experiences that can be tailored to a child's individual learning style. Our kindergarten program offers a strong academic program that builds a solid foundation for Grade 1 including a small class size with a maximum of 14 students, a highly qualified, enthusiastic teacher, a fully equipped learning facility including a bright classroom, activity room, and quiet playground, hands-on learning activities, organized lessons in dance, music and French, field trips; and volunteer opportunities for parents .
